Airbus Helicopters Maintenance Training Scholarship

Introduction

Airbus Helicopters annually donates one scholarship for an AMT instructor to attend a two-week Airbus Helicopters Airframe Field Maintenance Course at the company’s training facility in Grand Prairie, TX; available courses are listed on the Airbus Helicopters website. The scholarship is valued at $5,140.  The award process is administered by the Northrop Rice Foundation and the award recipient is selected by the NRF Board of Directors.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must have an A&P Certificate or Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Certificate, and be teaching at a FAA-certificated Part 147 School;
  • The FAA-certificated Part 147 School must be a 2018 member of the Northrop Rice Foundation or the applicant must be a 2018 Northrop Rice Foundation Individual Member;
  • The applicant must have one years’ experience as an active mechanic on commercial or military helicopters or three years’ experience as an active mechanic on commercial or military aircraft; and
  • The applicant must have the School Administrator’s approval to attend the course.

Applications

An application package for this award must include:

  1. A fully completed application form … form available at application form;
  2. An essay detailing the applicant’s certification and experience that illustrates the applicant meets the third and fourth eligibility requirements defined above; and
  3. A letter of recommendation from an aviation professional who is not associated with the applicant’s school.

Application Process

  • Application must be submitted in one PDF file, with the file title including the instructor’s name, to awards@northropricefoundation.org.
  • Applications on file January 31, 2018 will be consider for the scholarship.

Award Notifications and Ceremony

The applicants selected for the scholarship will be announced at the Awards Luncheon held during the Aviation Technician Education Council’s (ATEC) 2018 Annual Conference.  The scholarship winner will be notified by e-mail before March 31, 2018.
