2017 Available Student Scholarships and Awards

Over forty (40) awards and scholarships will be awarded to AMT and avionics students in 2017. Funds and material provided to make these awards and scholarships possible are provided by seven (7) very generous aviation-related firms and organizations … and by the numerous members of Northrop Rice Foundation. The available recognitions are described below. The award process is administered by the Northrop Rice Foundation and the award recipients are selected by the NRF Board of Directors. SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS FOR AMT STUDENTS

AERONAUTICAL REPAIR STATION ASSOCIATION (ARSA) Scholarship

The Aeronautical Repair Station Association annually donates one thousand dollars ($1,000) to the Northrop Rice Foundation. The donated funds are used to fund the Aeronautical Repair Station Association scholarship awarded to an AMT Student. This financial award may be applied toward tuition, books, or text fees.

Aircraft Technical Book Company Textbook Award

Aircraft Technical Book Company annually donates five (5) sets of A&P textbooks to the Northrop Rice Foundation. Each of these textbook sets, valued at $249 per set, is awarded to Aircraft Technical Book Company AMT student recipients. The textbook sets include a set of four 8083-ATB Textbooks, a set of three 8083-ATB Test Guides, AC- 43.13, and FAR/AMT. The student recipient has the option of receiving these items in print, as eBook downloads, or as eBook on a USB flash drive.

AVENTURE AVIATION Scholarships

Aventure Aviation annually donates $2,750 to the Northrop Rice Foundation to support the funding of three scholarships … $1,500 to an international student attending a FAAcertified Part 147 school under a U. S. student visa, plus a $750 and $500 scholarship to NRF-selected AMT students. These financial awards may be applied toward tuition, books, or text fees.

Important Notice To be considered for the Aventure Aviation international student scholarship the applicant must include in his or her application essay their United States Student VISA number.


AVOTEK, LLC Avionics Textbook Awards

Avotek, LLC annually donates five (5) sets of Avionics Textbooks to the Northrop Rice Foundation. Each of these textbook sets, valued at $270 per set, is awarded to a student enrolled in a certified Avionics Program.

NORTHROP RICE FOUNDATION Aviation Scholarships

The Northrop Rice Foundation offers aviation scholarships to students needing financial assistance. The scholarships vary in number year-to-year as they are funded by donations made to the Foundation by aviation organizations that support the Foundation's efforts to assist young people who are entering or about to enter the Aviation Industry. The scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, books, or tools depending on the category of assistance desired. Scholarships will be presented in $500, $750 and/or $1,000 amounts.

UNITED AIRLINES AMT Student Scholarship

United Airlines is donating fifteen-hundred dollars ($1,500) to the Northrop Rice Foundation. The contribution will be used to fund the United Airlines AMT Student Scholarship. This financial award may be applied toward tuition, books, or text fees.

Aircraft Technical Book Company Avionics Textbook Awards

Aircraft Technical Book Company annually donates five (5) sets of Avionics textbooks, compliant with the CertTEC National Avionics certification, to the Northrop Rice Foundation. Each of these textbook sets, valued at $240 per set, is awarded to Aircraft Technical Book Company avionics student recipients. Each award includes the following: Electrical Fundamentals, Electronic Fundamentals, Digital Techniques and Instrumentation, Airframe and Avionics Systems, Powerplant and Avionics Systems, and the CertTEC supplement. The student recipient has the option of receiving these items in print, as eBook downloads, or as eBook on a USB flash drive.

ATEC/NRF JAMES RARDON AMT STUDENT OF THE YEAR Award

The Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) and Northrop Rice Foundation (NRF) annually present the James Rardon AMT Student of the Year Award to an outstanding student attending a FAA-certificated Part 147 School that is an ATEC-member school. The award includes an ATEC-funded recognition plaque and NRF-provided travel support for the winner to attend the annual ATEC Conference. AVOTEK LLC. Aviation Maintenance Textbook Awards

Avotek, LLC annually donates five (5) sets of aviation maintenance textbooks to the Northrop Rice Foundation. Each of these textbook sets, valued at $250 per set, is awarded to an Avotek Aviation Maintenance Book Award recipient.

Houston PAMA Chapter Scholarship

Houston PAMA Chapter has donated $4,000 to the Northrop Rice Foundation, funds that will be used to award several scholarships to AMT students in Texas, preferably in the Houston area. The number and values of scholarships awarded each year depend upon the number of applicants. Scholarships are presented in $500, $750 and/or $1,000 amounts. These financial awards may be applied toward tuition, books, or text fees.

SNAP-ON INCORPORATED Aviation Tool Sets

Snap-On Incorporated is again expected to donate five (5) sets of tools to AMT students. Award recipients receive a Snap-On order form and tool cost information. With these forms the AMT student may develop and submit an order for the recipient’s desired set of tools with a total cost value up to four thousand dollars ($4,000). After submitting the order form to Snap-On the tools will be shipped to the recipient’s address.
